Two weeks to go!

In 2 weeks time, we'll be in Osaka! We're now finalising everything that needs to be finalised, including checking that the budget is going to work out OK (seems that it will, but who knows what temptations await us). We've had a serious trial pack and it seems that we'll be able to manage with just carry-on baggage. The limit is 5kg each, with a few extras like coat, laptop, handbag allowed on top of that. The lighter the better as we will be taking our luggage on the scooters.
Due to my total inability to sleep on planes, I've got a prescription for Temazapam from the doctor, so I'm sincerely hoping that I don't get done for drug trafficking and spend my Long Service Leave in jail. I'm going to have a test run before we go, to ensure that I don't turn into a raving monster when I pop a pill.
The accommodation is looking a bit dismal. We've booked the first few nights in Osaka, but left our bookings for Kyoto a little too late. It seems that as it is Cherry Blossom time, there's no room at the inn. We're still looking, but we might yet be sleeping on a park bench. The whole reason we chose to go to Japan in April was because it is Cherry Blossom time, so we should have realised that Saturday night in Kyoto, where there are squillions of cherry trees, would be rather busy.
STOP PRESS: In desperation, we've just booked 2 beds in an 11 bed dormitory in a youth hostel - wow, what an experience that will be! I'm sure that the young backpackers will be thrilled to bits to have a couple of old codgers cramping their style! On second thoughts, they'll be cramping our style too!!
